Andrew Wiggins of the Minnesota Timberwolves is showing off a new move from his arsenal this summer as he prepares for the upcoming NBA season. The former No. 1 pick is featured in a viral Vine video which shows his attempt at an extremely rare feat in basketball: the 720-degree dunk.
The clip arrives not long after the No. 2 pick in Wiggins’ draft class, Jabari Parker of the Milwaukee Bucks, was seen with back-to-back posterization dunks against a Nike Chi League competitor. Perhaps Wiggins wanted to set the internet ablaze with a highlight of his own. The Vine video has already surpassed a million loops as kids everywhere are probably studying the move in hopes of landing it themselves.
The video shows the Canadian-born NBA star start at the three-point line, dribble towards the basket and then rise up towards the hoop. He manages to complete the 720-spin, but as seen in the short video, the ball hits off the back of the rim. Could this be his secret weapon move for the Minnesota Timberwolves this coming season?
Possibly. It’s also entirely possible that Wiggins isn’t necessarily preparing to use this impressive move in a game, but will enter this year’s field for the NBA Slam Dunk contest. His teammate Zach Levine is the current two-time reigning champion and a completed version of the 720 would certainly draw rave reviews from judges and fans.
