DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for August 5th

MLB: Boston Red Sox at Seattle Mariners

Finding value can be the ever so elusive, “Holy Grail.” Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to provide a handful of players that could provide critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings MLB picks.

Last night’s value picks proved to be more than just values, as both Kim and Dahl went deep. Tonight’s slate features the beginning of a three game series at Coors Field between the Marlins and the Rockies. The line for this game has jumped around some, but it looks to be a fairly even game with each team expected to score roughly 5.8 runs. Excluding the game in Colorado, there are a few other games with team totals in the low 5’s and high 4’s. Seattle is a team that stands out as being vastly under priced. Depending on how their lineup shakes out, Seattle is an inciting option with 4.9 projected runs.

Shawn O’Malley – SEA (OF/SS) – $2800

If O’Malley gets the start and is batting 1st, he’s buy far my favorite cheap option tonight. He’s a switch hitter who hits righties better than lefties and has had some solid success of late. Look for O’Malley to benefit from the Seattle team total of 4.9 runs.

Seth Smith – SEA (OF) – $3700

Another Mariner, Smith could benefit if he’s batting in one of the top 2 positions in the order. He draws a favorable match up against Lincecum (L).

Hyun-Soo Kim – BAL (OF) – $3100

I’ll being going back to the well with Kim tonight. Baltimore has a team total of 4.8 runs and yet Kim’s price has dropped $500 since last night.

More from FanSided

He’s facing another righty, Gonzalez, tonight and should be considered when filling in your outfield positions.

John Jaso – PIT (1B) – $2300

Facing a righty, if he’s leading off, he’ll continue to be a great punt option.

Pedro Alvarez – BAL (1B) – $3600

Alvarez has drastically favorable splits against righties (which he’ll face tonight). He has upside with his power and his power numbers increase by a large margin when facing a righty. He holds a .267 ISO split against righties.

Nori Aoki – SEA (OF) – $3700

Aoki has a solid wOBA of .318 against righties, but his value will come from where he’s batting. Obviously Smith, O’Malley, and Aoki are fighting for the top two spots so at least one of these players will lose value.

Some cheaper players are more suspect to be scratched from the lineup or bumped down the lineup order. Follow me on Twitter @MattMcGarvey215, where I’ll try to update these plays the best I can!
