With the 2016 Opening Ceremony taking place Friday night, how did Twitter react?

After weeks of waiting and anticipating, the 2016 Opening Ceremony finally took place on Friday evening, kicking off the Rio Olympics.

Millions of people around the world gathered around their televisions to watch the Opening Ceremony on Friday night because each one has its own personality to it, including this year’s showing in Rio.

There were plenty of mixed reviews regarding the Opening Ceremony, especially considering the amount of flashing lights, the appearance of Gisele Bundchen and the rapid occurrence of commercials.

NBC’s coverage of the Olympics has finally kicked off, and people around the country, and the world, have reacted to the ceremony via social media. Clearly, everyone’s favorite medium to get their opinions across has to be Twitter, and boy did people not hold back.

The overwhelming feeling on Twitter was that there were a ton of confusing performances as well as too many commercials. Some were impressed by what Rio was putting forth while others found it to be underwhelming and just a cluster of nothingness.
