The Rio Olympics are underway and the organizers and elite “elite” athletes like the United States men’s basketball team are staying in plush accommodations on a luxury cruise ship, the Silver Cloud. Carmelo Anthony has lied to himself and the media saying he thinkg the beds in the Olympic Village “are not much bigger than their beds.” The U.S. women’s team is also staying on the same cruise ship. At least one of their players, Sue Bird, was able to admit to some advantage saying, “it’s really easy to live on that (the boat) for these two weeks.” Luxury cruise ship rentals does not allign with what the Olympics are about.

Russell Westbrook is back with Oklahoma City which is great, but for how long? If things go poorly in 2016, I wonder if the trade talk will resurface. We also learned that Westbrook found out like the “rest of us” that Kevin Durant was leaving for Golden State and that Durant didn’t call him. Only a text message. Shame on you, Kevin. Perhaps he does need a new city to help him grow up a bit more. First step, you call your teammate that you played with for nine years and let him know personally that you are leaving before he finds out on twitter. Disappointing on many levels.
