Jim Furyk recorded the lowest round in PGA Tour history on Sunday, carding a 58 on Sunday at the Traveler’s Championship

Entering Sunday at the Traveler’s Championship on the PGA Tour, veteran golfer Jim Furyk already had plenty of accolades to his credit over the course of his career. Not only did he have a U.S. Open win from 2003 under his belt, but he also had finished in the top-five of ever major championship and even had a round of 59 to boast, tying the record for the lowest round in PGA Tour history.

After Sunday at the Traveler’s Championship, Jim Furyk is now the sole owner of that record for the lowest round as he carded an absurd 58.

Once Furyk had gone 9-under on the front nine at the Traveler’s Championship, it was obvious that Furyk was going to be flirting with going under 60 once again. However, he walked up to the green on No. 18 and needed only a par to secure a 58. He sunk it like a pro:

"History!Jim Furyk shoots 58!It’s the lowest round in PGA TOUR history.Incredible. https://t.co/mzggwHU6tT— PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) August 7, 2016"

Just thinking about the notion of only needing a par to somehow card a 58 is one of the most absurd things possible. Not to mention the fact that his 27 on the front nine is a number that a lot of amateur golfers would be pleased with through five holes.

The 46-year-old Furyk has been one of the staples of the PGA Tour for quite some time now and rightfully so. However, he’s going down in history now as the only person ever to shoot a 58 on the tour.

Incredible.
