Ibtihaj Muhammad made history at the Olympics becoming the first athlete to compete with a hijab — and she won.

The Olympics are in full swing right now, and history is getting made all over the place. We’ve already had a record in swimming fall and now we have history of a different kind being made.

You might have head of American fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad. She became the first American athlete to compete in the Olympics while wearing a hijab. Not only did she make history in that regard but she seems to be unstoppable in competition.

She won her first match on what we hope is a journey to gold, and twitter went nuts.

You might be thinking that the following tweets will be filled with Islamophobic slander from people you’re surprised they figured out how to turn their phone on or work a keyboard. But those people are busy syphoning gas somewhere and they missed Muhammad making history in Rio.

There are mouth breathers out there who aren’t cool with this, but we don’t really care about them right now. This is a pretty historic moment in not only the Olympics but also for American athletes. Because that’s what Muhammad is — an American athlete.
