Rio Olympics medal count 2016: Kristin Armstrong adds to US gold medal total

There wasn’t any time wasted before medals started being handed out at the 2016 Rio Olympics on Day 5 as the day started with two medal events in Olympics road cycling with both the men and women competing in the time trial event. USA’s Kristin Armstrong took home the gold in the women’s event with Olga Zabelinskaya of Russia and Anna Van Der Breggen of Netherlands won bronze.

In the men’s event, it was Switzerland’s Fabian Cancellara who emphatically captured the gold medal with Tom Dumoulin of Netherlands and Chris Froome of Great Britain winning silver and bronze, respectively.
