During the summer NBA players love to escape from the cities they play in and return to wherever their home is, which means working out in a gym that isn’t a team practice court. For some players the gym is in their house, a perk of the millions of dollars that being an NBA player gets you, while for others it is at some sort of training facility where they meet a personal trainer. Exactly which of the two that Toronto Raptors forward DeMarre Carroll uses is unclear, but one thing that isn’t is that Carroll is the big man in the gym.

Junkyard Dog is the nickname that Carroll has had since his college days at Missouri, and one that he has fully embraced since entering the NBA. The fact that the mural has incorporated that into his NBA career, with both the chain and the dog, is a nice touch.

So is the fact that every stage of Carroll’s NBA journey is present. In the back is a picture from his brief stint in Denver with the Nuggets and right underneath it what looks like a picture of Carroll in his Rockets uniform, something that lasted just two months. There is also Carroll in Grizzlies, Hawks and Jazz uniforms, three of the most important stops in his NBA career.
The newest addition to the mural is clearly Carroll in his Drake inspired Toronto uniform with plenty of room to add things if he needs down the line. While many people would probably find shooting around in front of giant pictures of themselves strange there is no doubt Carroll sees it as something else.
