Olympics Men’s Basketball: China vs Australia

Australia entered the 2016 Rio Olympics men’s basketball competition as a possible medal contender, without a doubt. However, no one truly saw how good this team could’ve been until the Games began. Coming off of a matchup where they pushed the favorites in USA Basketball to their limits, the Aussies have a goal. They’ll be looking to rebound from said loss and get their momentum back. To do that, they’ll have to take down a struggling China team that’s capable of playing better than they have.

Patty Mills played the absolute game of his life for Australia in their last outing. The San Antonio Spurs guard dropped a 30-spot on the Americans, though it wasn’t enough. However, Mills, Andrew Bogut, Aron Baynes, and Matthew Dellavedova have been rolling as a unit in Rio. You have to believe that a team playing like they have should recover, no problem. Even still, you want to see it before you start putting all of your eggs in the Aussie basket.

Meanwhile, China has had a rough go of things in Rio 2016 leading up to Day 7. Despite having former NBA player Yi Jianlian and current rookie Zhou Qi, the Chinese have been beat up on in this competition more often than not. Still searching for their first win, it’d be a shock to see them top the talented Australian team. However, teams far worse than this China squad have pulled off upsets before, only proving that you never know.
