The Rams sure know how to make an entrance, allowing the opening kickoff back in Los Angeles to be returned for a touchdown

It was a historic night in Los Angeles as the Rams finally made their official return. Football was back in LA for the first time in over two decades as the Rams hosted the Dallas Cowboys. Regardless of what happened, it would be near impossible to deflate the crowd in attendance, right? Well Jeff Fisher’s crew sure tried their damnedest to test that.

The Rams kicked off to start the game, sending a booming kick down to the opposite goal line. Cowboys return specialist Lucky Whitehead received it and took off down the middle of the field. And he kept running. Then he ran some more. Finally, he continued running the remainder of the 101 yards it took for him to take the opening kickoff to the house for a touchdown:

That’s probably not the way that the Rams imagined their return to Los Angeles beginning. Looking for silver linings, starting out on such a low note means things pretty much have to improve moving forward.

Jokes aside, there are definite reasons to be excited about the Rams. Not only do they have a dominant defensive front (when they’re able to get on the field) led by Aaron Donald, but also have the electric Todd Gurley in the backfield. Los Angeles also will be the home of the top draft pick from 2016 in quarterback Jared Goff.

So yeah, maybe the Rams should tighten up their special teams sometime soon so every home game in Los Angeles doesn’t start off like this. However, not all is lost just yet.
