2. Alex Rodriguez

The one player that everyone is watching in the Miami Marlins’ pursuit of a fix for the lineup currently is Alex Rodriguez. The organization hasn’t exactly hid their interest in the third baseman that was recently released from the New York Yankees.

Reports on Monday seem to indicate that A-Rod will be joining the Marlins:

Rather than moving into his next role in the game not as a player right away, Rodriguez will finish his final year playing baseball in a place that he calls home. He could slide in at first base and the Marlins could move some players around to the outfield if such an occurrence were to arise.

He doesn’t have much left in the tank and signing him feels like a farewell tour. However, they are so thin on the roster and in need of something, that signing Rodriguez isn’t the worst deal in the world. They can’t just go out and try to trade for whomever anymore. Their options in that department are limited because of waivers.

They’re in a playoff race and what better way to get the fans excited than to bring in one of the greats for a month while they try and make their push to get into the playoffs.
