Olympics weightlifting continued on August 16, with more champions crowned on Tuesday evening.

Weightlifting at the Rio Olympics has concluded The competition had been fantastic, with multiple records being handed out. The men have dominated while breaking new world records, including one from Kazakhstan weightlifter Nijat Rahimov. On Day 5, in the 77 kg event, he lifted 379 kg to accomplish this feat. Would someone else do this on Tuesday night?

The final competitions on August 16 saw the men in action. Group B took part in the non-medal events, and Group A battled for the last gold medal in weightlifting. They would battle in the over 105 kg contest.

Group B saw Rustam Djangabaev of Uzbekistan win by lifting 432 kg. Peter Nagy of Hungary finished in second place with 420 kg. Sardorbek Dusmurotov, also of Uzbekistan, had 411 kg to land in third place.

The final gold medal of weightlifting went to Lasha Talakhadze of Georgia, who lifted 473 kg. This is a world record, yet another one to add to the fantastic showings at Rio. Gor Minasyan of Armenia had an impressive showing as well, lifting 451 kg to win the silver medal. Irakli Turmanidze, also of Georgia, had 448 kg to win the bronze.

The final medal count for weightlifting has China in first place. They won five gold medals, two silvers, and two bronze. Kazakhstan finished in second with one gold, one silver, and three bronze. Thailand finished in third place with two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.
