Tuesday was another game-free day in the NFL, but it sure wasn’t a dull one.

Even with zero NFL games on Tuesday, the news keeps on coming in. The biggest news of the day revolved around Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former commissioner Paul Tagliabue. They have been named 2017 Pro Football Hall of Fame nominees. Whether you love or hate Jones, he has done a lot of positive things for football and his Cowboys are always good for business. Tagliabue, in hindsight, did an excellent job with labor negotiations unlike Roger Goodell.

Christian Ponder will be the next quarterback to try out Chip Kelly’s offense. The San Francisco 49ers have signed the former first round pick of the Minnesota Vikings. He is likely an extra arm due to Thad Lewis’ injury and Colin Kaepernick’s ailments. With only two healthy quarterbacks on their roster, Ponder will likely get a chance to prove himself. Though this could be his last chance unless he impresses.

The Miami Dolphins will soon be playing at Hard Rock Stadium because the restaurant chain has acquired the naming rights. It sure sounds better than Sun Life Stadium, doesn’t it? The deal runs for the next 12 years.

It appears that the Buffalo Bills will go into the regular season shorthanded. Defensive tackle Marcel Dareus, according to Adam Schefter, will be facing a four game suspension after violating the league’s substance abuse policy. This is a huge blow to the Bills, who were hoping to capitalize on Tom Brady’s four game suspension. Dareus will most likely appeal the suspension.

Speaking of suspensions, the Pittsburgh Steelers are not going to force James Harrison to cooperate with the NFL. The league has requested that Harrison have an interview with them regrading his ties to Al Jazeera and has threatened a suspension if he doesn’t. This could be a sign that teams are getting sick and tired of Goodell’s antics.

Finally, the Green Bay Packers injury woes continue as Jeff Janis will be out four to six weeks with a broken hand. It’s not good to see Aaron Rodgers losing receivers once again. Expect the Packers to bring in a new face to help with depth.

What say you, beloved inmates?
