It only figures that that the 2016 Rio Olympics men’s basketball semifinals would entail some high-profile matchups given the talent in the competition. And while the USA-Spain matchup undoubtedly headlined the slate, the other matchup promises to be every bit as entertaining. You’ll be kicking yourself if you don’t tune into Australia vs Serbia on Friday, August 19.

Australia and Serbia were both teams that pushed the favorites in Team USA to their limits in the group stage. Australia, however, has been the wholly more impressive team of the two. Not only have Andrew Bogut (when able to go at 100 percent) and Aron Baynes been huge in the frontcourt, but Patty Mills has looked like a superstar offensively. If they can find a way to shut down the frontcourt of the Serbs and get Mills going once again, the Aussies will be looking at a spot in the gold medal game.

On the other bench, Nikola Jokic has been enjoying a coming out party for Serbia in these Olympics. His ability to affect the game on both ends of the floor and in a variety of ways has been their biggest weapon. However, they’re going to need captain point guard Milos Teodosic and big man Miroslav Raduljica to come to play if they’re going to get past Australia on Friday.
