Simone Biles has been chosen as the USA flag bearer for the closing ceremonies after stunning at the Olympics.

Whenever the Olympics wind down, the question of who will be the flag bearer for the closing ceremonies is always brought up. Even though holding the flag for the opening ceremonies is a big honor, the athlete that’s chosen for the closing ceremonies generally represented their country the best during the Games. It should come as no surprise, then, that USA chose Simone Biles as the flag bearer for the closing ceremonies:

Michael Phelps carried the flag in the opening ceremonies, and he made a case to carry it for the closing ceremonies too. He closed out his Olympic career with five Gold medals in six events, and cemented his status as the greatest American Olympian of all time.

But after racking up four Gold medals in five attempts, Biles proved to be just as dominant in her sport. Had she not slipped on the balance beam, it would’ve been five out of five. She was also a great ambassador throughout the Games, showing class to both her teammates and competitors. While Phelps represents this generation, Biles is the face of both the present and future of USA Gymnastics. And by the time Tokyo rolls around, she’s only going to get better.

If you’re already being regarded as the greatest female gymnast ever at 19, you’re clearly doing something right. In addition to Biles’ superhuman routines, her magnetic personality won plenty of people over. Most notably, Biles proved that she was just like was when she turned into a schoolgirl around Zac Efron.

If Rio 2016 was just a small glimpse of what’s to come with Biles, then the future is very bright.
