31 sports stadiums most likely to be haunted
By John Buhler
12. Wrigley Field
Wrigley Field is one of MLB’s most iconic stadiums. It has been home to the Chicago Cubs since 1914 and has still yet to see the Lovable Losers win a World Series (1908 and counting).
Even though a World Series championship has evaded the North Side’s favorite team, Wrigley Field has remained a Mecca for baseball in the U.S. for generations. 2016 might be the year the Cubs finally do the improbable and win the Commissioners Trophy.
Is Wrigley Field haunted? It very well could be. Three ghosts probably hang out there, enjoying matinees in the Friendly Confines on spring and summer afternoons: long-time voice of the Cubs, Harry Caray, Hall of Fame third baseman Ron Santo, and Hall of Fame shortstop Ernie Banks.
Wrigley Field would be higher on this list if the Cubs could ever win, but no doubt a benevolent presence ventures to the corner of Clark and Addison from time to time, in the form of Caray, Santo or Banks. It’s really a shame they didn’t get to see the Cubs win a World Series in their lifetimes, but maybe they’ll be there in spirit to see it soon enough.
