3. Mario Mandzukic

Mario Mandzukic wouldn’t add pace to the Arsenal attack. Instead, he’d be dominant in the air and a natural focal point for Wenger’s platoon of classy playmakers.

It’s how things work when Giroud is leading the line, and for all the criticism he gets, the Gunners have missed their target man during the season’s first two matches.

Mandzukic has a pretty similar scoring rate to Giroud, but he’s played in bigger games for more high-profile clubs. The Croatian scored in a UEFA Champions League final for Bayern Munich and currently plies his trade for Serie A giants Juventus.

The club bolstered its attacking talent by signing Gonzalo Higuain earlier this summer. He’s likely to form a terrific tandem with fellow Argentine Paulo Dybala, so Mandzukic could find himself left out in the cold.

He’s already attracted interest from the Gunners, according to Italian publication Tuttosport, per James Cambridge of the Daily Express.

If Wenger wants to continue having Sanchez, Ozil and Aaron Ramsey feeding off a towering link player in the middle, he won’t find many better for the role than Mandzukic.
