Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has a broken bone in his back and will miss some time.

News has gone from bad to worse for the Dallas Cowboys. After suffering a hit to his back in a preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, Tony Romo hit the ground in pain. Trainers would observe him as he was slowly taken off the field. Well, it appears things are even worse than they appear.

According to head coach Jason Garrett via Clarence Hill, Romo has a broken bone in his back. For those that saw the hit, it was clear something bad had happened immediately. That means that the quarterback is likely to miss a good chunk of the season, which could put the Cowboys’ playoff hopes on ice before they even begin.

If there’s any silver lining to this terrible situation for the Cowboys, it’s that backup quarterback Dak Prescott has been a rookie sensation thus far. The Mississippi State product has looked like the real deal and now it will be his time to shine at quarterback. However, it is still only preseason and the action will be much different in the regular season.

The Cowboys are in a bind right now and don’t have any other options than Prescott. They already lost backup Kellen Moore for the year earlier in training camp. Now, they have lost Romo for a good chunk of the year as well.
