The Virginia Cavaliers will have three new uniforms to help usher in the new era of football in Charlottesville behind new head coach Bronco Mendenhall.

The Virginia Cavaliers have not been a strong program in the ACC for the last several years. Virginia was in need of a reboot anyway, so new head coach Bronco Mendenhall explains the three new uniforms that the Cavaliers will play in this fall.

Mendenhall spent 11 seasons coaching the BYU Cougars in Provo, Utah before arriving in Charlottesville this spring with his family. The new Virginia head coach wants to honor the past and embrace new traditions with Virginia football. His jersey selection is conservative in style, but will have staying power for the Hoos going forward.

White will be the road uniform with a white helmet. On the left side of the helmet, there will be the players’ jersey number. On the right side, will be the iconic V Cross Sabre synonymous with Virginia Cavaliers athletics.

Virginia’s primary home jerseys will be blue with a blue helmet, but Mendenhall did make a point that the Cavaliers will often wear the orange jersey with the orange helmet. Though he has only been in Charlottesville for a few short months, Mendenhall realizes how important the color orange is to Virginia athletics and wisely chooses to include it as the primary color of the popular alternate jersey.

There will be a three-barred stripe across the top of the helmet, with blue stripes on the outside surrounding an orange stripe in the middle. At first glance, looks a bit like something one would see with the Auburn Tigers jerseys in the SEC.

Overall, these jerseys have a clean, cut conservative look to them, accurately representing the type of man who Mendenhall is. They will grow in popularity as Mendenhall wins more games at Scott Field on fall Saturdays in Charlottesville.
