DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for August 29th

Finding value is the ever so elusive, “Holy Grail.” Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to offer a handful of players that could give critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings MLB picks.

Tonight’s slate features 15 games, with a few teams projected to score upwards of five runs. Detroit and LA are have the highest projected at 5.8 runs, followed by Toronto (5.4), Washington (5.4), Boston (5.3), Cleveland (5.3), and Colorado (5.3). Two teams that stand out from a pricing perspective, are Detroit and Baltimore. Detroit has the highest run projection and has two players in the top six of the order under $4000. Baltimore on the other hand has a lower projection as they’re home dogs against Toronto. This projection should drive down their normal ownership and a team like Baltimore always has the power upside regardless of their Vegas team total.

Darwin Barney – TOR (2B/3B) – $3500

Barney will benefit from facing, Miley, the lefty tonight. Barney prefers facing lefties, as he holds a .359 wOBA split. He’s far too cheap for being the lead off hitter on a team projected to score 5.4 runs.

Erick Aybar – DET (SS) – $3700

Aybar and Collins are two Detroit batters that are priced inaccurately for tonight’s slate. I’m not a huge fan of rostering a player like Aybar, but this price, any player batting in the top five on a team projected to score the most runs, is worth considering.

More from FanSided

Tyler Collins – DET (OF) – $2900

Collins will be one of the my favorite punt options on the day. There are a few top pitching options to consider tonight, and Collins could provide the necessary salary relief. Collins is facing a lefty tonight, where he holds a .350 wOBA and a .200 ISO split.

Hyun-Soo Kim – BAL (OF) – $3900

Kim is a little more expensive than normal tonight. The price increase doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, as Baltimore isn’t projecting to fall in the top quarter of highest team totals, but anytime he’s facing a righty, he’s a viable option.

Steve Pearce – BAL (1B/2B) – $3100

Pearce returned from an elbow injury yesterday and went 3 for 4 with a home run. He has reverse splits, and he’ll get a crack at a righty tonight. As long as he’s batting in the top five, he could be used tonight.

Note: Keep in mind that recommended plays are based off of early information and will be subject  to change as lineups are released. Some cheaper players are more suspect to be scratched from the lineup or bumped down the lineup order.
