Which of the 14 SEC schools will begin the 2016 college football season as the No. 1 team in these weekly SEC power rankings?

While it wouldn’t be all that challenging to power rank the SEC weekly on the teams’ overall body of work, these weekly rankings are going to be all about how dominant a team looked each weekend.

Each week, all 14 SEC teams will be ranked on how they performed each Saturday. Losses and byes will put teams at the bottom of these rankings, while blowing somebody out or beating one of the stronger teams in the nation will catapult a school to the top of the list.

Typical power rankings entering the 2016 NCAA season before Labor Day weekend would likely have the Alabama Crimson Tide at No. 1 and the South Carolina Gamecocks at No. 14., with anybody’s (un)informed opinion justifying No. 2 through No. 13.

While Alabama might be the No. 1 team in the country, they may not have the best Week 1 performance versus the USC Trojans in Arlington. Maybe LSU looks better against Wisconsin in Green Bay?

To help the set the stage for what these rankings are going to be all about, here is a mock trial of what could potentially happen in the SEC Week 1. Without further ado, get ready for a different take on SEC power rankings.
