Minnesota Viking sign Brad Sorensen in wake of Teddy Bridgewater injury

Teddy Bridgewater is out with a gruesome injury, so the Minnesota Vikings re-signed Brad Sorensen.
In the wake of the season-ending ACL injury to Teddy Bridgewater, the Minnesota Vikings have signed Brad Sorensen. The team announced the signing via their official website.
Just yesterday, Pro Football Focus tweeted out their ranking of all 32 quarterback situations. At the untimely time of publication, the Vikings were ranked 16th, with Bridgewater cited as an asset to the squad. By evening, it was clear there would be no Bridgewater on the active roster after he suffered a torn ACL. Suddenly, the team was facing a catastrophe at quarterback.
Adding Sorensen won’t alleviate all of their concerns, but he is familiar with the playbook and the team. Sorensen signed with the Minnesota for the first time on August 20 and was waived on Tuesday, August 30, before the Bridgewater injury. (For Vikings fans, this era is now called BBI.) Post Bridgewater injury (PBI), Sorensen became a necessity, but he is far from a solution.
The Vikings also have at their disposal 36-year-old Shaun Hill and undrafted rookie Joel Stave. Both men are a big step down from Bridgewater and are unlikely to lead the team to the postseason.
Mark Sanchez, who is currently with the Denver Broncos, and Colin Kaepernick, who has a seat on the San Francisco 49ers bench, would be more formidable, reliable options than the three quarterbacks the Vikings currently have on their roster. Tim Tebow could abandon his fledgling baseball career to attempt another NFL comeback, but Tebow-mania is not what Minnesota needs at this point. The team needs consistency and reliability, not showmanship.

As the Minnesota Vikings try to resolve their personnel crisis, Sorensen serves as a comfort blanket. With no meaningful NFL playing time, he has bounced around from team to team with brief stints in San Diego, Tennessee, San Diego again, and then the Vikings. Sorensen has a backup job for now, but the Minnesota Vikings still lack a starter.
