25. Jalin Marshall

It’s been said youth is wasted on the young. Says who, though? Probably old people. When you’re young all you’ve ever known is youth. Saying youth is waste youth is like saying sunlight is wasted on the sun. There are about eight billion Earthlings who would disagree with that sentiment. A fairer epigram would be something like “Youth has no idea what aging is like.” It doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as well, but man is it true. Take the simple act of sitting. When you’re young and you sit, it feels like a momentary break in the action. When you’re old and you sit, it feels like being caught in a really comfortable trap you have zero desire to escape. Youth is awesome. Youth in a zombie apocalypse is even more awesome. That’s why you’d want Jalin Marshall on your survival squad.

Marshall, a wide receiver out of Ohio State, is just 21 years old, that glorious, seemingly invulnerable time where you’re stronger than you were as a teenager but still years away from tapping into your physical prime. He’s essentially got a full tank of energy, strength and speed, plus several back-up tanks that are full, too. If you want to endure an apocalypse, you want teammates who will be in it for the long haul. You need teammates who will age well. The best way to age well is to start young.
