Argentina vs. Uruguay live stream: Watch World Cup qualifying live
Argentina face Uruguay in World Cup qualifying on Thursday, Sept. 1. Here’s all the info you need watch.
Argentina lost another major international tournament final this past summer, falling to Chile on penalties in the Copa America for the second year in a row. Lionel Messi announced his retirement after that game. He has since un-retired, but it remains unclear whether or not he will play against Uruguay. Regardless, Argentina still have plenty of attacking talent to choose from, including Sergio Aguero, Angel di Maria and Gonzalo Higuain, although Aguero and Higuain have historically struggled to recreate their club form at the international level.

Uruguay are in a much more settled position than Argentina. They top the South American World Cup qualifying group, leading second-place Ecuador on goal difference and third-place Argentina by two points. Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani are their key players, as usual. Suarez, in particular, is in lethal form, having scored three goals in two La Liga games for Barcelona already this season. If he can keep that up for his national team, Uruguay have an excellent opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the group.

There will be plenty of attacking talent on show in this game. Argentina have more depth, on paper at least, but Suarez is arguably playing better than anyone in the world right now. This should be a close one between two of South America’s premier teams.
