UC Davis head coach Ron Gould heads to Oregon with a familiarity for both the program and the Ducks’ new quarterback. Gould played one season with the Ducks, and has battled Oregon quarterback Dakota Prukop in the past.

Back in 2014, Prukop shredded UC Davis as the signal-caller for Montana State. In that 77-37 victory, Prukop threw for 361 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 148 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Expect more of the same Saturday, which will mark Prukop’s first start for the Ducks.

Prukop earned the starting position with Oregon after transferring as a graduate student. Last season, he was a First Team FCS All-American. During Oregon’s Spring Game, Prukop threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

The fifth-year senior will have the luxury of having one of the best running backs in the country behind him. Royce Freeman is an absolute beast, and is coming off a 1st-Team Pac-12 All Conference season as a sophomore. Freeman was a 2nd-Team All-American as well, and is in consideration for a possible Heisman in 2016.

This should be a blowout for the Ducks, who will be looking to get Prukop comfortable in the Oregon offense. Freeman is likely to go off in the first half, and then give way to the reserves. It will be a rude homecoming for Gould, who will likely see Prukop torch him for the second time in three years.
