USC’s Jabari Ruffin stomped on Alabama’s Minkah Fitzpatrick and wound up getting disqualified from the game.

The USC Trojans got off to a good start against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday night. They were able to get points on the board first and their defense kept the Crimson Tide off the board for most of the first half. Then Jalen Hurts came in at quarterback for the Crimson Tide and the wheels began to fall off for the team.

Alabama scored on a deep touchdown pass to ArDarius Stewart and then things got even uglier. As USC was returning the ball on special teams, Alabama’s Minkah Fitzpatrick fell to the ground. Jabari Ruffin took exception to Fitzpatrick being in his presence and decided to stomp right on his genitals.

Fitzpatrick would hop to his feet enraged and the refs would review what happened. Ruffin was assessed a penalty and he would immediately be disqualified from the game. It was a senseless play and the Trojans would then throw a pick-six during the following series as they began to unravel.

Disqualifying Ruffin was the right move, but one has to wonder if he’ll face any more discipline. There was absolutely no need for his actions on the field. It only hurt his team in the long run.
