Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire hit a guy in the face with an errant pass.

People on the sideline during football games put themselves in a fairly dangerous situation. Quarterbacks like to throw the ball away if they can’t find any options and they tend to throw the ball as hard as they can towards the nearest sideline.

Let this guy who get whacked in the face by an errant throw courtesy of Notre Dame’s Malik Zaire serve as a lesson to those who don’t pay attention.

At least Zaire hit someone on the Texas Longhorns’ sideline as opposed to his own sideline. If you’re going to hurl a pass as hard as you can at a sideline, you might as well choose your opponent’s sideline. Zaire could have been thrown in the doghouse had he hit one of his coaches in the face.

Notre Dame is once again expected to contend for a coveted spot in the college football playoff. They have a strong team and they have a strong enough schedule that if they can get through the season with one loss, they’ll likely get a bid. Notre Dame has not won an official national title since 1988, but under Brian Kelly, they’re looking to change that.

Their title hopes rely on Zaire finally realizing his true potential. Zaire’s arm is a terrific asset and he is quite athletic as well. The issue with him has been his health. Zaire, a senior, missed most of his junior season with a fractured ankle. He also has very little experience. Zaire did not play at all as a freshman and served as a backup in his sophomore year. He played in the 2014 Music City Bowl, leading Notre Dame to a victory.

Notre Dame is probably hoping that Zaire’s arm proves to be more accurate than it was when he hit a Longhorns coach in the face.
