Notre Dame fell behind with under four minutes left against Texas, but tied it in the wildest way with a blocked extra point return

Notre Dame Fighting Irish cornerback already had one huge play to his credit on Sunday night against the Texas Longhorns. The star defensive back had a huge third-quarter interception that swung momentum. However, Notre Dame found themselves trailing after allowing a touchdown with only 3:29 remaining in the fourth quarter. That’s when Texas lined up to kick the extra point and all hell broke loose.

After the Longhorns had clear communication issues on the line for special teams, they got set to take the kick. In doing so, Notre Dame was able to charge and get a hand on it. Crawford again came up huge for them. He swooped in to pick up the blocked kick in stride and then took off down the sideline. It was a foot race from that point and absolutely no one was catching him. Rather than going down by three points with under four minutes left, Notre Dame tied the game in perhaps the craziest possible way:

In a game that’s been full of absolute absurdity, of course this would be how the Fighting Irish would tie it up. Moreover, this basically sums up Texas Longhorns football in recent years. Just when you think things are finally turning in their favor, something like this happens. Of course, having a blocked extra point taken to the house might be a new level.

Unfortunately, DeShone Kizer and company were unable to score after getting the ball back. However, that was much less detrimental to their plight after this wild play from Crawford and the special teams unit.
