Lee Corso and the College GameDay crew prepare for the “Battle At Bristol” next week in Tennessee.

NCAA College GameDay always kicks off a Saturday stocked full of football action. After being in Green Bay for the LSU-Wisconsin game, it opened the door to what turned out to be one of wildest opening days of college football in recent memory. Now they get ready to hit the road for Week 2, and that means a stop in Tennessee for the Battle At Bristol.

ESPN announced on Saturday morning that they would set their eyes on Bristol for next week, as the Virginia Tech Hokies prepare to go to war with the Tennessee Volunteers. The two teams step onto the field at Bristol Motor Speeday as part of a big weekend of action. Lee Corso, Rece Davis, and Kirk Herbstreit will break down the day’s games, along with the help of Samantha Ponder and former Heisman Award winner Desmond Howard.

One of the big theatrical segments that everyone looks forward to is Corso making his official prediction for the big game in each week’s location. After unsuccessfully choosing LSU to beat Wisconin (the Badgers edged out a 16-14 win over the Tigers on Saturday), Corso will look to even up his 2016 record by taking either the Volunteers or the Hokies.

Tennessee has owned three of the last five meetings with Virginia Tech. But after scoring back-to-back shutouts, they took a 36-11 thrashing a year ago. Looking into this game, Tennessee will be without a couple of players. Linebacker Chance Hall had arthroscopic knee surgery in mid-August, and was expected to miss around six weeks. Fellow lineman Shy Tuttle is recovering from a broken leg, and it’s unclear IF he will be ready for Saturday’s game.

On Sunday, Tennessee opened up as almost a 10-point favorite over Virginia Tech. A bit surprising, considering they needed an overtime score this week to barely escape Appalachian State this week. But the ESPN crew will head south next week and try to sort things out between these two teams.

College GameDay will hit the air from the parking lot of Bristol Motor Speedway at 9:00 AM EST, live on ESPN.
