ACC Power Rankings 2016: Week 1
By Jason Parker
Well, would you look at what we have here? The Seminoles decided to wake up in the second half of their game against Ole Miss on Monday night and complete the largest comeback in school history, outscoring the Rebels 39-6 in the last 31 minutes of the game to get the 45-34 win.
It wasn’t pretty early on, as the ‘Noles looked outmanned and ready to fold while Rebels quarterback Chad Kelly picked apart the defense en route to a 22-point lead. Freshman quarterback Deondre Francois looked like a freshman and running back Dalvin Cook was held to small gains — except for a long reception that he happened to drop short of the end zone.
The second half was a different story with three turnovers for the defense (part of four total on the night) and Francois looking in control of the offense, going for 419 yards in the air in the win. The Seminoles kept the Rebels in the game late, but were finally able to put them away and seal the victory.
With a week “off” against an FCS opponent (a good one, though, in Charleston Southern), all eyes will now be focused on September 17th when the ‘Noles travel to the Bluegrass State to take on the Cardinals.
