Auburn Tigers senior kicker Daniel Carlson takes it to the house on this fake field goal score against the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

Up 21-7 on the Arkansas State Red Wolves, the Auburn Tigers decided to pull a fast one on a 20-yard field goal attempt. Rather than having accurate senior kicker Daniel Carlson kick it through the uprights to make it 24-7 Auburn, head coach Gus Malzahn draws up a fake field goal play that results in a Carlson pay dirt.

Auburn has itself one of the better kickers in the SEC in senior Carlson. He can make 50+ field goal attempts with great regularity. While a 35-yard chip shot seemed reasonable, what Auburn drew up was infinitely better on this great touchdown run by Carlson.

The Tigers came up six points short of pulling off a huge Week 1 upset of the No. 2 Clemson Tigers on September 3rd. Auburn needed to make a statement against Arkansas State to get its season back on track. The Tigers have a navigable first six weeks of the season and could not afford to go down 0-2 before SEC play.

Malzahn has decided to go with quarterback Sean White in Week 2’s game against the Red Wolves. This has been to the benefit of the entire team, as Auburn has looked stellar in all three phases.

The defense looks transformed under new defensive coordinator Kevin Steele. White is making plays with his arm and his legs as the Tigers’ next dual-threat playmaker. Carlson is one of the better weapons on the 2016 Tigers. He is lethal from distance and on kickoffs. Now the senior kicker has shown that he has the wheels to get into the end zone on the ground.
