Clemson Tigers punt returner Ray-Ray McCloud forgets to bring the football with him across the plane for a certain punt return touchdown versus Troy.

This happens way too often in the college game, but another Power 5 playmaker forgot to make sure he was completely in the end zone before dropping the football. The latest victim of his gaffe was Clemson Tigers punt returner Ray-Ray McCloud against the Troy Trojans on Saturday.

Clemson was making its home debut of the 2016 college football season against Troy on Saturday. The Tigers survived a tough road game in Week 1 versus the Auburn Tigers, 19-13. Many in Clemson expected an easy win at home on Saturday, but the Trojans made it close in the first half.

Up 13-10, Clemson forced Troy to punt. McCloud would gather the punt at Clemson’s own 25-yard line. He would let the ball bounce a few times before putting on some great moves for what should have been an easy score for Clemson to put the Tigers up 19-10.

McCloud was ecstatic to get the impressive pay dirt on Troy but did forget to bring the football with him across the goal line. After reviewing the play, McCloud did drop the football a yard short of crossing the goal line.

Troy would regain possession of the football at its own three. Instead of being up presumably 20-10 at halftime, Clemson would enter the second half with only a three-point lead on Group of 5 Troy at home in Week 2.

After playing for a National Championship the year before, Clemson has not impressed in its first two games of 2016. The Tigers might have the best pro prospect at quarterback this season in junior Deshaun Watson, but Clemson will need to play better to avoid losses to division rivals Florida State or Louisville.
