If you needed any more evidence that Nick Saban is a perfectionist, look no further than this video of him going off on Lane Kiffin while up by 28.

No matter what happens to Alabama in the offseason, they’re almost always the preseason number one team. That’s because, with Nick Saban at the helm, they’re practically guaranteed to have the best recruiting class. And while every other team requires an elite quarterback to be a championship contender, Saban can make do with transfers and freshmen.

2016 has been the same story so far for the Crimson Tide. One week after waxing USC 52-6, they beat Western Kentucky big in their home opener. It looked like they were about to have another methodical 38-3 win, but a late fumble gave Western Kentucky the ball and they scored with 46 seconds left.

Every other team in the country would’ve let that go and taken the 28-point win. Not Nick Saban, though, as he went nuclear on Lane Kiffin for turning over the ball in garbage time:

If that happened on any other program, it would be perceived as dysfunctional. A shift in momentum. But since it’s Alabama, and Kiffin and Saban have an established relationship, it’s not a big deal. He probably gets into it with him every week behind the scenes.

It might seem questionable for Saban to behave like this. His team is leading by 28 points and is going to retain their number one spot in the country. But he’s a perfectionist who wants every part of his games to be spotless. Having just led his team to a national championship, he knows that all eyes are on his team, and that they’re expected to be there again next year.

Whenever opposing fans watch Alabama, they always wonder when they’re going to have a drop off. The soonest that could possibly happen is the day Saban drops dead.
