Week 2 is over and that means it’s time to project four teams currently for the College Football Playoff.

Week 2 of the college football season is in the books and after a week of some top-ranked schools going down, the teams at the top did their part. It was a week of big schools playing small schools and while some struggled, others looked just fine in their games. The first College Football Playoff rankings don’t come out for a while, but it’s already clear which teams are going to be in contention for one of those spots.

The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide took care of business at home on Saturday. With Jalen Hurts in at quarterback, Western Kentucky struggled to contain the Crimson Tide. Alabama tried to see what they could do with Blake Barnett at quarterback, but he struggled and it ultimately ended with a fumble that led to Nick Saban going bananas on Lane Kiffin over.

In the ACC, Clemson and Florida State each won their games respectively. The Seminoles had no issues with Charleston Southern, but Clemson struggled with Troy. Deshaun Watson had the worst quarterback rating of his career and for the second week in a row, it left people with a lot of questions about the team. If we are to project a four-team playoff right now, one of Florida State and Clemson would be in, while joining Alabama and one of Ohio State and Michigan. For now, the last spot would likely go to Stanford, but that could change down the line if they lose a game.

What has become clear through these first two weeks of the season is the games that could decide playoff spots. Providing these teams don’t slip up before or after, Clemson vs. Florida State and Ohio State vs. Michigan could be for spots in the playoffs. It’s very likely that two of those four teams will be in the College Football Playoff.
