It didn’t take long for Ben Roethlisberger to get picked off as Bashaud Breeland secured one on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ second drive.

In Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, and Le’veon Bell, the Pittsburgh Steelers make a case for having the best offensive trio in the NFL. But they were in tough against the Washington Redskins, as Bell is still suspended while Brown is matched up with Josh Norman.

The Steelers knew they had to score early and often, but they’ve appeared stagnant so far. Their opening drive resulted in a punt, while on their second drive, this happened:

Bashaud Breeland is a talented cornerback with a lot of upside, but Roethlisberger has to do better than that. The receiver he was throwing to was in double coverage, and Breeland was in great position to pick it off. Still, he deserves a lot of credit for his athletic ability when he tipped the ball, then turned around to secure the interception. In just his third NFL season, this could prove to be Breeland’s breakout year.

Roethlisberger remains a high-end quarterback even at the age of 34. But he is still prone to making a lot of bad mistakes. Last season, Roethlisberger totaled 16 interceptions, his highest total since 2006. He also threw 21 touchdowns, meaning you never know what type of game you’re getting out of him.

At this stage in his career, Roethlisberger is lucky to have so many weapons. Antonio Brown is in the prime of his career, while Martavis Bryant and Markus Wheaton could be primary options on other teams.

Roethlisberger is no longer the game changing quarterback that he used to be. If the Steelers want to win this game, he’d better clean up his turnovers.
