To be fair, they’re a lot better than the Curry Twos. Just not good enough to justify buying a pair.

Stephen Curry is a really good at basketball. Like, one of the best that many have ever seen play the game. If that’s true – which it is – can someone at Under Armour explain why they insist on designing the worst possible signature sneakers for this dude? The two-time MVP and future Hall-of-Famer?

Complex’s sneaker site Sole Collector released leaked images of the upcoming Curry 3 Low Monday morning, which you can take a peak at here:

My God. Just take a moment to marvel at the mediocrity. With the speed of a Curry jumper, the Twitter users swooped in and roasted the sneakers for looking like a pair of shoes that your dad would spend $30 on at Kmart.

You don’t have to be a sneaker-head to tell that those early reactions aren’t very encouraging. Even worse, many others made unfavorable comparisons between the Curry 3 and another NBA superstar’s popular signature shoes.

Yes, the Curry 3 does kind of look like Kobe Bryant’s Nike Kobe 6 sneakers, as both pairs have similar colors and aesthetics. If anything, Curry and Under Armour should take that as a compliment, as Kobe’s sneakers continue to rank highly with consumers. However, they shouldn’t take pride in the facts that 1.) People already don’t like them, 2.) They’re still boring, 3.) This is like, the 500th bad sneaker they’ve attached Curry’s name to.

Curry is Under Armour’s marquee endorsement catch, and yet they don’t seem to have any interest in making shoes that the public is actually interested in buying. What’s this going to do for the relationship between Under Armour and the Golden State Warriors’ golden boy? Probably nothing good, but then again, Curry doesn’t really seem to be that interested in having good sneakers anyway.

If you remember, he called his widely lambasted Curry Two Lows “hot fire,” which is not only an untruth, but a slap in the face of everyone on this planet that has an iota of taste. That also could be seen as a damning indictment of Curry’s own taste in shoes. If he was that eager to put on a cape for those monstrosities, then maybe we shouldn’t expect anything different as the Curry/Under Armour partnership continues.

Keep your head up, Steph-fans. At least the 3’s aren’t as bad as James Harden’s “I’m Here To Fix Your Leak” Adidas.
