16. Jacob Eason – QB – Georgia Bulldogs

You have to be a very special talent to start as a true freshman, and Jacob Eason certainly fits that bill. As a sophomore for Lake Stevens High School in Washington, he passed for 2,941 yards and 23 TDs, following that up by throwing for 2,829 yards and 32 TDs his junior year, earning him the Rivals.com Junior of the Year Award. Eason concluded his dominance in high school by winning Gatorade Player of the Year honors and being named as a USA Today All-American, when he committed to play for the Georgia Bulldogs.

From the moment he arrived on campus, speculation grew that Eason could become the first Georgia true freshman to start a season opener since Quincy Carter in 1998. The battle between him and senior QB Greyson Lambert was fierce. However, head coach Kirby Smart decided to go with Lambert as the starter against North Carolina. Lambert played in the first three series, but the Tar Heels were able to sack him three times. On the fourth series, Eason made his college debut and took advantage of his opportunity. He finished the game by going 8-for-12 with 131 yards and a TD pass. Although he made some rookie mistakes, Eason is clearly the future of the Georgia program.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 235 pounds, Jacob is the prototypical size for an elite NFL quarterback. He also projects to be one of the first players taken in the NFL Draft when he comes eligible. In short, the path is laid out for Eason to become a star. If that holds true, then there’s no reason for him not to appear on a Madden NFL cover in the future.
