20. Chad Kelly – QB – Ole Miss Rebels

Chad Kelly, the nephew of Hall of Fame QB Jim Kelly, is the top senior prospect in college football this year. His road to prominence was bumpier than most top prospects. He started off at Clemson University, but was dismissed in 2014 for conduct detrimental to the team. It was a disappointing development, but Kelly’s career was far from over.

He transferred to East Mississippi Community College and spent one year there. In his lone season, Kelly threw 3,906 yards with 47 TDs and only eight interceptions. His performance led the EMCC Lions to a 12-0 record and the NJCAA National Championship. After his outstanding and redeeming season, Chad committed to playing for the University of Mississippi as their starting slinger. He also seemed to put his previous behavioral issues behind him.

His first season back in the NCAA was very successful, as Kelly passed for 4,042 yards and 31 TDs while leading the Rebels to a 10-win season. His redemption story continued as he also led Ole Miss to a Sugar Bowl victory over Oklahoma State, throwing for 302 yards and four TDs while also rushing for 73 yards in the 48-20 victory.

With his cannon for an arm, Kelly plays with a fearless attitude. His excellent athleticism makes him a true dual-threat in the pocket and his determination is infectious with teammates. Physically speaking, he has all the tools to be a successful starter in the NFL. If he can prove to scouts that he’s truly matured, then the sky is the limit for him.

The Madden NFL franchise loves to choose quarterbacks for their cover. Six QBs have been featured on it and Kelly, if he continues his rise, could become one of the next ones. Only time will tell.
