Looking forward to the playoff rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans? Check here where you can watch these teams square off.

Both the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans had to rally in the second half to win their season openers last week. But the bottom line is that these playoff teams from a year ago are both off to great starts.

That was something that eluded both clubs in 2015. Yes, the Chiefs opened the season with a 27-20 win at Houston but then proceeded to drop their next five games. Andy Reid’s squad closed the regular season with 10 consecutive victories and an 11-5 record was good enough to capture a playoff berth.

For Bill O’Brien and company, the Texans lost their first two game last season and would eventually be sitting with a 2-5 mark. Seven wins in the next nine games (including victories at Cincinnati and at Indianapolis) gave Houston a 9-7 record and the AFC South title.

Of course, we all know what happened in the Wild Card Playoffs. The Chiefs pitched the first postseason shutout in the league since 2005 courtesy of a 30-0 win. It was the first playoff victory by the franchise since 1993. Then-Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer committed five turnovers in the setback. That’s one reason the franchise addressed the position in a big way and with big bucks by plucking Brock Osweiler away from the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos.

It will be interesting to see how the Chiefs fare should they fall behind again, as was the case last week at home against the San Diego Chargers. Reid’s club spotted the Bolts a 24-3 third-quarter lead before rallying for a 33-27 overtime triumph. Last Sunday against the Bears, Houston fell behind 14-10 at halftime but pitched a shutout in the final two quarters.

This will be a nice early-season gauge for both of these postseason contenders. You will recall that Osweiler got a chance to see the Chiefs’ defense a year ago in Denver in the game in which Manning was sat down after being picked off four times. There will be no surprises here by either club, unless one of these teams stunningly runs way from the other on Sunday.
