The Ole Miss Rebels go up 16-3 on the Alabama Crimson Tide on this 63-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Chad Kelly to tight end Evan Engram.

The Ole Miss Rebels were entering a must-win game against the No. 1 team in the nation when the Alabama Crimson Tide came to town on Saturday afternoon. Ole Miss entered the game as the No. 19 team in the country. The Rebels fell from No. 11 after their Week 1 loss to the then No. 4 Florida State Seminoles in Orlando.

Ole Miss had to beat Alabama to have any shot at making the College Football Playoff after Florida State was trounced by the Louisville Cardinals earlier on Saturday afternoon. The Land Shark Defense did a fine job meddling with Alabama freshman starting quarterback Jalen Hurts to keep this game low scoring.

It was only a matter of time before Rebels senior signal caller Chad Kelly would get Ole Miss into the end zone through the air. Kelly unleashes a fantastic 63-yard touchdown strike to elite tight end Evan Engram.

Kelly manipulates the Alabama secondary by faking a pitch to the right before slinging it to a wide open Engram for the easy Ole Miss paydirt. After the successful point after attempt, the Rebels would go up 17-3 on the Crimson Tide. This play swung momentum heavily in Ole Miss’ favor in the second quarter of this game.

Ole Miss has the SEC slate to make a legitimate College Football Playoff run should the Rebels run the table in SEC play. Playing in the SEC West certainly helps, but the Rebels are going to have to blow out teams to make up for what might now look like a worse loss to Florida State after the Seminoles’ defeat at the hands of the Louisville Cardinals.
