The Louisville Cardinals extend their massive lead to 42-10 on the Florida State Seminoles with this 69-yard Jaire Alexander punt return for a touchdown.

ESPN’s College GameDay made it to Louisville, Kentucky for the first time in the pre-game show’s history, as the No. 10 Louisville Cardinals hosted the No. 2 Florida State Seminoles for a 12:00 PM ET kickoff Saturday.

These ACC Atlantic rivals were poised to prove that their ranking in the top 10 of the AP Top 25 Poll was legitimate. Fortunately for the Cardinals, the best player on the field Saturday was their sophomore sensation at quarterback Lamar Jackson. Louisville carried a stunning, 31-10 lead on the Seminoles at half time.

After having to punt on their first possession of the second half, Florida State did a miserable job of covering Logan Tyler’s fourth punt of the day. Louisville return man Jaire Alexander returned Tyler’s punt for a 69-yard touchdown to put the Cardinals up 42-10 on the Seminoles after the PAT.

These two teams along with their other ACC Atlantic Division rival Clemson Tigers were expected to be the team that would go on to win the 2016 ACC Championship over whoever came out of the ACC Coastal.

Clemson looked lackluster in the Tigers’ first two games of the season before hammering South Carolina State in Week 3. By having a multi-score lead on Florida State, perhaps the Clemson/Louisville game in two weeks at Clemson will be an early indicator for who goes on to win the ACC Atlantic.

Alexander’s punt return for a touchdown was another crushing blow in the Seminoles’ chances to win a tough road game in Louisville. The Seminoles might have an impressive non-conference win over the Ole Miss Rebels, but a brutal road loss in ACC play might seriously jeopardize their chances at making the third annual College Football Playoff.
