North Dakota State’s pick-six puts them up early on Iowa (Video)
Watch out, Iowa. Those pesky North Dakota State Bison have been here before.
North Dakota State has won five consecutive FCS national titles under two head coaches and have become the Alabama of the football subdivisions.
Along their way of dominance, they’ve also taking the big boys to school by beating Kansas, Minnesota (twice), Colorado State, Kansas State and Iowa State since 2007.
The Bison are prepping to take over the state of Iowa today with a win against the 13th-ranked Hawkeyes and they got off to a good start with the first score of the game on a pick-six by MJ Stumpf to give them a 7-0 lead.
The Hawkeyes have since answered with a touchdown of their own to tie the game at 7-7, but don’t count out the Bison pulling off one of the big upsets of the weekend in this game.
College football can be a weird world and the North Dakota State Bison know all about winning big games. They’ve won five straight titles, they’ve beaten Iowa’s in-state rival already and they have shown the ability to survive. The Bison have won their first two games in overtime this season to enter Saturday at 2-0 against the Hawkeyes.
As for Iowa, they destroyed Miami (OH) and in-state rival Iowa State last weekend to move to 2-0. After last season’s disappointing finish in the Big Ten title game versus Michigan State and the Rose Bowl against Stanford, this isn’t a game the Hawkeyes can overlook if they’re going to get back to Pasadena in January or into the College Football Playoff discussion.

Another random note from this game: Connor Wentz — the younger brother of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz — has a 23-yard catch for the Bison already against the Hawkeyes.
