Which five teams will be on upset alert in Week 4 of the college football campaign?

Slow down, college football season. It’s already Week 4 and we have seen a fourth of the regular season fly by. We are nearly into the month of October and the No. 1 team in the country has remained in the same spot since the beginning of the year. However, the Alabama Crimson Tide nearly suffered an upset last week at the hands of Ole Miss.

The Rebels have been a thorn in the side of Nick Saban and the Tide for the past few years, beating Alabama in 2014 and 2015. The Crimson Tide looked to be on their way to a third straight loss in the rivalry’s history, but a nice come-from-behind victory did Ole Miss in. Down 24-3, Alabama put together a run, coming back to win 48-43.

If Ole Miss had held on to win, it might have gone down as the biggest upset of the season. However, there are about four teams that could argue for that title early on.

Oklahoma State lost to Central Michigan at home last week, providing potentially the most improbable defeat of the 2016 campaign. However, No. 10 Notre Dame’s loss to Texas and Wisconsin’s win over No. 5 LSU were close behind.

Well, that was until Week 3. The No. 13 Iowa Hawkeyes hosted FCS repeat champion North Dakota State for an early season bout. The matchup should have never been scheduled because the Bison are just unstoppable when playing ranked FBS foes lately, winning six straight, and Iowa became another victim of North Dakota State magic.

Could there be another upset to top those ones this week? Take a look at my five teams that are on upset alert in Week 4.

Every year for the past couple of seasons, it seems like the Texas A&M Aggies race off to a hot start before cooling off dramatically once SEC play begins.

Last year, Texas A&M was 5-0 and ranked No. 9 in the country before losing to Alabama at the beginning of conference play. Moreover, in 2014, the same thing happened as the Aggies were 5-0 and No. 6 in the land before losing to Mississippi State. Could the same thing happen this season, just slightly earlier?

Texas A&M is 3-0 and the Aggies have gone from unranked to begin the year all the way up to No. 10 in the AP Poll thanks to big wins over UCLA and Auburn in the first three weeks. The road win against Auburn was impressive, but the Tigers are struggling as a program right now and they pose a fraction of a threat that Arkansas does in Week 4.

Hosting the Razorbacks looked like a cakewalk at the beginning of the year when glancing at the schedule, but Arkansas is another team that has climbed the polls thanks to an early season upset over No. 15 TCU on the road. Beating the Horned Frogs in hostile territory was good prep for this one as the Razorbacks will play in one of the toughest venues in the nation.

Kevin Sumlin’s Aggies should take care of business at home against this inexperienced team, but this is the SEC and upsets run rampant during the course of the season.
