The Steelers and Eagles will clash in one of the biggest matchups on the 2016 NFL Week 3 schedule.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles are two historic NFL franchises, and when they meet this weekend it will be must-see TV for NFL fans. Both teams have great fans and great pride, so while Eagles fans will be cheering on the home team loudly, don’t be surprised to see a “Terrible Towel” or two in the crowd as well.

Both squads come into Week 3 action undefeated and playing very well, however, all eyes will be on Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz. The No. 2 overall pick has won both of his NFL starts as the Eagles starting QB, but this week he will face one of the better defenses in the league.

When it comes to head-to-head history, there isn’t much of late between these two. In fact, they have only met four times since the year 2000, with each team winning twice.

The last meeting occurred on October 7, 2012,

at Heinz Field. The Steelers squeaked out a 16-14 win on a last second Shaun Suisham field goal as time expired. The recent history may be sparse the past 20 years, but here are a few trends are worth checking out.

The Steelers are 4-1 in their last five games overall, but when it comes to facing the Eagles, things are usually a bit tight. Philadelphia is 4-1 ATS in their last five games against the Steelers.

That is something to keep in mind, especially since the Eagles are a home underdog. Philly has been a hot team at the Vegas window of late, going 5-2 in their last seven ATS. The over/under total has gone UNDER in 5 of Pittsburgh’s last 6 games.
