Chris Bosh’s career may be over
By Ian Levy
Another clotting issue has arisen for Chris Bosh, which may keep him off the court this season and potentially end his career.
This may be how it ends for Chris Bosh, not with farewell tours and standing ovations but a failed physical. Each of the last two season for Bosh have ended prematurely with the discovery of dangerous blood clots, the first of which in 2015 had already traveled to his lung.
With a new treatment regimen, Bosh had hoped to return to the court this season. However, that return was contingent upon him passing a physical. The Miami Herald reported today that another clotting issue was found, causing Bosh to fail the physical. He is not cleared to participate in training camp.
The Miami Heat have handled his medical situation with extreme caution and Bosh has, at times, seemed to chaff under their reservations. Even if Miami is willing to negotiate a buyout, it seems unlikely that another team would give him the medical clearance to return. A trade is hard to imagine for the same reasons.

It’s a depressing turn of events for Bosh but the silver lining is that he is still healthy enough to live a long and happy life, it just might not include basketball.
If this is the end of the road for Bosh, he will be remembered as one of the most thoughtful and engaging personalities in the league, and one of the most versatile players of his era. Bosh began his career playing on the interior, an offensive-focused post-scorer. In Miami, he remind himself as a three-point shooter, a dangerous pick-and-pop big man, and one of the best defensive players in the league. In many ways it was his ability to defend in space that made the Heat’s hyper-aggressive defensive scheme work.

Bosh has two rings from his time with the Heat and although he was often seen as the third wheel to LeBron and Wade, his career resume is strong. Basketball-Reference gives Bosh a 99.5 percent chance of making the Hall of Fame, more than Kevin Durant or Dwight Howard.
