Arizona State running back Kalen Ballage hurt his knee against the Cal Golden Bears and would be placed on a cart.

The Arizona State Sun Devils are off to a perfect start and have plenty of optimism as they watch other teams struggle in the Pac-12 South. Facing the Cal Golden Bears on Saturday night, the Sun Devils were out to keep pace with the Utah Utes. However, there was some bad news early on for the Devils.

Star running back Kalen Ballage would hit the deck early and grab his knee. Trainers would immediately attend to him on a cart on the sidelines.

Ballage of course is the player that had eight touchdowns a couple of weeks ago for the Sun Devils. He tied the FBS record and launched his career as one of the top running backs in college football.

With the Sun Devils relying on him a great deal in their offense, this would be a huge loss for the program. He’s the back that they hand off to when they need someone to take over. With Ballage out, Arizona State will turn to running back Demario Richard. Along with Ballage, Richard also has a big impact on the offense.
