LSU beat Auburn on the final play of the game. And then they didn’t. Here’s Twitter’s reaction to one of the craziest finishes of the college football season.

Danny Etling completed a pass to Travin Dural at Auburn’s two-yard-line with just :01 left on the game clock and LSU trailing Auburn, 18-13.

Then, all hell broke loose.

A flag brought the line of scrimmage back to the Auburn 15-yard-line with :01 left on the clock. The game clock would then start on the whistle. The next snap brought Etling firing a game-ending touchdown pass to D.J. Clark in the corner of the endzone with no time left and LSU won, 19-18.

Until they didn’t.

A review of the touchdown showed that LSU didn’t get the snap off in time and Auburn survived with the 18-13 victory at home.

Yeah, Twitter couldn’t believe it either.

Nothing about the game made any sense. The team that didn’t score a touchdown all night won. That basically sums up all you need to know about the game and the finish itself.

If you missed the finish, here’s a look at the chaos:

A few things about the touchdown that wasn’t:

  1. The call on the snap was correct. The play couldn’t count because it wasn’t snapped it time.
  2. Etling appeared to be across the line of scrimmage when he threw the ball to Clark, which could’ve been reviewed as well.
  3. The reason why this play happened after LSU’s illegal shift penalty was because it was a dead-ball foul, therefore, there was no need for a 10-second runoff and the end of the game.
  4. That was madness.

The loss could mean the end of days soon for head coach Les Miles at LSU. He survived last year’s run, but it doesn’t appear that his tenure is going to last much longer after this loss.
