Dwyane Wade says Rajon Rondo is the best point guard he ever played with
By Andre Pruitt
Dwyane Wade believes Rajon Rondo is the best point guard he ever played with, though that might not be saying as much as it first sounds like.
The Miami Heat will look like a totally new team when the NBA season kicks at end the of October. Not only will Chris Bosh not be with the team due to his ongoing blood clots situation, but the Heat lost arguably their best player in franchise history, Dwyane Wade. D-Wade made the tough division as a free agent to leave Miami, where he spent 13 years, and join the Chicago Bulls.
During Wade’s 13 years in Miami, he played with a bevy of stars. From Shaquille O’Neal to LeBron James and Chris Bosh, Wade has seen his fair share of talent.
Despite that, he has never seemed to play with a great point guard, unless you consider Goran Dragic a point guard.
This interesting thought can be pointed to the propensity of Wade handling the ball a lot and initiating the offense as a shooting guard. In fact, Wade spent his entire rookie season as the starting point guard for the Heat in 2003-2004 and helped lead them to the playoffs.
Since Wade’s rookie season in 2004. he has teamed with many point guards in Miami, but never an All-Star. He’s teamed up with Gary Payton and Jason Williams, both past their primes. Then came Mario Chalmers and Norris, who are more off-the-ball point guards. When Goran Dragic came through the door in Miami, many were expecting big things from duo, though it never really worked out as expected.
Now in Chicago, his backcourt mate will be Rajon Rondo. The mercurial Rondo led the league in assists last season and is a multiple time All-Star. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that during training camp Wade called Rondo, “the best point guard I’ve ever played with,” according to Vincent Goodwill of CSN Chicago.

What will be interesting to see this season for the Bulls is how the pairing of Rondo and Wade will work out as both guards are ball dominant players. Factor that in with Jimmy Butler also being a ball dominant player and things could get very interesting in Chicago.
