Lady Gaga announced via Twitter that she will be the halftime performer at Super Bowl LI.

After singing the National Anthem for the 2016 Super Bowl, Lady Gaga will be back on stage for the halftime show in 2017. Her performance last year was so good that it’s no surprise that she is being brought back for the main show.

She delivered the news in a tweet Thursday night, saying: “It’s not an illusion. The rumors are true. This year the SUPER BOWL goes GAGA!”

The news was not unexpected. Us Weekly reported in early September that Gaga would be headlining the 2017 halftime show, but the rumor was not confirmed until Thursday. Many suspected it, however, after the 5-star reviews her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner received. The expectation is that she will play some old hits as well as a new song. Bad Romance, Just Dance, Poker Face, Born This Way, Applause, and Edge of Glory are definite possibilities.  What we don’t know is who she will choose to bring up on stage with her.

It will be interesting to see what Gaga has in store for us. Last Super Bowl, the halftime show was headlined by Beyonce, Bruno Mars, and Coldplay. Lady Gaga’s style is certainly different, but in no way less exciting. Her choice of costume will be almost as suspenseful as her track list.

At 30-years-old, the pop star has six Grammy awards. She is set to release a new album, “Joanne,” on October 21. A memorable performance at the Super Bowl halftime show will be a fantastic addition to her resume.
