Dede Westbrook sets Oklahoma receiving record vs Texas (Video)
By John Buhler
Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Dede Westbrook continues to build on a career day with his third touchdown catch on the Texas Longhorns on Saturday.
The Oklahoma Sooners needed to find a reliable wide receiver to beat the rival Texas Longhorns in the 2016 Red River Showdown. It seems that the Sooners have found that guy in wide receiver Dede Westbrook.
Westbrook had himself a career day for the Sooners at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas versus the hated Longhorns. He already had a 71-yard touchdown in the first half and a 42-yard touchdown early in the third quarter. Here is Westbrook’s third touchdown of the afternoon: a 47-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Baker Mayfield.
The catch gave him 223 yards and broke Ryan Broyles’ single-game receiving record.
In Oklahoma, there is one Westbrook that everybody knows: Oklahoma City Thunder superstar point guard Russell Westbrook. After the 2016 Red River Showdown, Oklahomans can now add another Westbrook to their list of favorite athletes in the state.

This is a must-win game for these two teams.
